Location of your farm

Our farm is near Genesee, ID. We farm ground on the Genesee Rim overlooking the Clearwater River, and north of Genesee in the rolling terrain of the Palouse. We are 300 miles to the north of the nearest potato field in Idaho.

History of your farm

RimRock ranches has been a family farm since 1909, and celebrated our Idaho Century Farm designation in the summer of 2011 at our recently constructed shop. Jim (3rd generation) and Ben (4th generation) currently operate the farm.

Why do you think direct seeding is important to the future of agriculture?

Direct seeding is important to the future of agriculture because if will enable us to grow more food on the same ground using less labor, less equipment and less natural resources.

Why are you involved with Shepherd’s Grain?

RimRock Ranches has been producing high quality crops year in and year out, and Shepherd's Grain is a great way to share our hard work with people that appreciate quality.

Why do you think it is important to develop relationships between the grower and Shepherd’s Grain customers?

Keeping an open discussion path available is the best way to ensure we are growing what the customers desires with the quality they expect.
