History of your farm

Lindstedt Farms is a family farm that began 104 years ago. A fourth generation is now carrying on a family love of farming. The farm has grown producing a variety of cereals, oilseeds pulses and forages. With the serious droughts in the 1980’s, we decided to try a different type of farming, a no till, direct seed method. We have dry land as well as irrigated land. Over the past 25 years, we have been able to see the benefits of this type of farming.

Why do you think direct seeding is important to the future of agriculture?

Direct seeding has been an important tool in maintaining moisture levels in the soil, preventing soil erosion and overall creating a healthier soil with added life. Direct seeding enables us to grow a premium product with the environmental benefits.

Why are you involved with Shepherd’s Grain?

Shepherd’s Grain enables us to market our grains and be involved with a company that is making a premium product. It is a great feeling to be part of a company that gives the farmer and the consumer an opportunity to know and learn about the grains grown on the farm to the finished product on the table.
